Council Plans for Daily Driving Charge Puts Businesses at Risk

New £5 Daily Charge for Oxford Drivers Could Cripple Trade

Our County Council wants to introduce tolls on six major roads into and across the city - and they want to do it before Christmas. Workers, businesses, residents and visitors will all be negatively affected - we need to stop it.

Help us stop this scheme from being implemented, before it’s too late.

If this scheme is signed off in September when councillors are set to make their decision, the scheme has up to two years to run before the council is obliged to remove it. As it is, their intention is to bring in the scheme in November, keep it there until the Botley Road reopens… and then to introduce what they call ‘traffic filters’… materially exactly the same scheme, but drivers will be fined £70 every day they drive through all roads mentioned above, rather than charged £5.

Complete the council consultation

(Note: the ‘central permit area’ mentioned in the consultation is misleading, applying only to residents living near the station and a small number of businesses nearby.)

Sign the petition fighting the scheme

Cllr Saj Malik has created a petition that has already amassed more than 10,000 signatures. Let’s tell the council in no uncertain terms how many people are against this scheme.

Spread the word

The more people complete the consultation and sign the petition, the stronger our voice is to fight this. Please tell friends, family and colleagues.
